Aurangabad, Oct 26:

“The State Government has banned recruitment frequently. MLCs of Graduates and Teacher’s Constituencies never opposed the ban aggressively. This resulted in a backlog of 8,500 teaching and non-teaching staff in universities and colleges of Marathwada,” opined by academician and teachers.

Prof Pradeep Dubey said that thousands of post of teaching and non-teaching employees are vacant in universities and colleges due to restrictions on recruitment.Thousands of youths are unemployed today. Even the post of principals has not filed in many colleges. He informed this newspaper that the candidates got elected on the votes of graduates and teachers, but, they do not raise any issue of voters.

Senate member from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Govind Kale said that MLCs from Graduates’ and Teacher’s Constituencies have ignored 10,000 ad hoc teachers of the State.

Kale thinks said that they had to knock the doors of Supreme Court as the MLCs have not taken it up with Government. “The elected legislators are mostly in resolving issues of education societies. They are in universities, colleges and schools during election period only,” he asserted.

President of Milind-Nagsenvan Students Welfare Association Sachin Nikam took objection to the working style of both MLCs whose term ended a few months ago. He said that thousands of teachers working on clock-hour-basis get a meagre honorarium, that too not on time.

Sachin felt that teachers recruitment should be done through a centralised system. He blamed the legislators for not raising issues of thousands of unemployed youths in the Legislative Council.
