Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “We have become accustomed to praising Marathi and taking pride in the Marathi language for only one day.We should use Marathi in practice. One's mother tongue is the true language of knowledge,” said Sudhir Rasal, the senior critic.
MGM University celebrated Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din on Thursday at a programme organised at the Einstein Auditorium of the university. Sahitya Akademi Award-winning writer and senior critic Sudhir Rasal was felicitated by Chancellor Ankushrao Kadam. Sudhir Rasal interacted with the attendees.
Chancellor Ankushrao Kadam, Sumati Rasal, senior journalist Praveen Bardapurkar, famous humorist Dr Vishnu Surase, Registrar Dr Ashish Gadekar, Dean Dr Rekha Shelke and others were present.
Rasal said although Lokmanya Tilak, Gokhale and Ranade were all educated in English, they worked to enrich the Marathi language. “We think only in our mother tongue. We dream in our mother tongue. It is necessary to do all our business in our mother tongue. This will help to awaken the cultural identity of the Marathi people,” he added.
