MPSC's 7,500-post recruitment cleared as Bombay High Court Rejects Plea

The much-delayed recruitment of 7,034 Clerk-Typists and 428 Tax Assistants in Maharashtra is back on track after the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court rejected a plea to halt the process.

A group of 275 candidates had approached the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT), Aurangabad, claiming that faulty keyboards during the skill test had hampered their performance. However, MAT dismissed their petition on February 11, 2025, ruling that other candidates had taken the exam under the same conditions without any issues. The petitioners then moved the Bombay High Court, seeking a stay on the recruitment process. On February 28, 2025, a bench comprising Justice S.G. Mehare and Justice S.P. Brahme heard arguments from both sides and refused to stay MAT’s decision, clearing the way for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) to continue with the recruitment. MPSC’s legal counsel, Advocate Balaji B. Yenge, argued that the allegations were baseless, emphasizing that all candidates had used the same keyboards. The Maharashtra Government was represented by Advocate S.G. Tambe, while Advocate Amol Chalak appeared for the petitioners. With this verdict, MPSC can now proceed with the long-pending hiring of 7,500 candidates, bringing relief to thousands of aspirants waiting for their appointments.
