Narcotics team seizes 21 kg of ganja

The Narcotics Control Team (NDPS) successfully apprehended a ganja dealer with 21.32 kg of cannabis worth Rs. 4.36 lakh on the outskirts of the city on Monday. The operation was carried out following information received by PI Geeta Bagwade about a drug deal.

The accused has been identified as Sanjay Chavan (30, Assegaon, Gangapur). At the tip, PI Bagawade and his team set up a trap at the Khozewadi Phata on Lasur Road. When suspect Sanjay arrived, he was arrested. The team seized the drugs and other materials worth over Rs. 4.36 lakh. Chavan revealed that he had purchased the ganja from a transgender person named Liz in Odisha. He transported it to Raipur Railway Station, from where it was brought to Manmad by train. From Manmad, the ganja was taken to Lasur Station and then carried to Assegaon by rickshaw, where he was arrested.
