Aurangabad, Oct 26:

The State level office of Maharashtra State Board of Wakfs (MSBW) which is in the city will be shifted to Mumbai. Wakfs and Minorities Minister Nawab Malik made this announcement in the city two days ago.

Commenting on this, MLC Babajani Durrani said that the representatives of Marathwada had no objection to shifting the office, but, there is a need to bring transparency in functioning. He informed this newspaper that the MSBW office had become a den of corruption and brokers.

He pointed out that hundreds of people from each district of the State pay a visit to the Wakfs Board office in the city, however, their problem is not solved in one visit.

MLC leader claimed that no concrete step was taken to enhance the revenue of the Board in the last two or three decades.

Land worth in crores was acquired by land mafia. Nawab Malik who was in the city two days ago announced the shifting of the MSBW’s State level office to Mumbai. He also said that its divisional office would continue in the city.Reacting to this, Durrani said that there are many irregularities in the functioning of the Board.

“The then Minister Eknath Khadse in 2016 started taking steps to bring major changes in the Boards function. It has no full time chief executive officer, neither the president nor members are appointed for a long time. This is affecting the function of the Board,” he added.

MP Fouzia Khan told this newspaper that even if the State level office is shifted to Mumbai, there should be transparency in administration and its objective should be achieved. She feels that there is no harm keeping the office in a city where people have more convenience.
