New traffic police booth under flyover at Mahavir Chowk

In a bid to streamline traffic and enhance public convenience, a new, well-equipped traffic police booth has been set up under the Mahavir Chowk flyover. The relocation comes as a solution to persistent congestion caused by the previous booth, which, along with the Vedantnagar Police Booth, obstructed vehicle movement.

The earlier booth was stationed at the corner of the road leading to Panchavati Chowk, creating hurdles for vehicles turning at the junction. Recognizing the issue, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shilwant Nandedkar initiated its relocation. He sought assistance from Municipal Administrator G. Shrikant, who promptly allocated space and a container beneath the flyover for the new facility.

Cleaner and safer space

The flyover area at Mahavir Chowk, often occupied by beggars and prone to unsanitary conditions, has now been transformed. With the new police booth in place, cleanliness and order are expected to improve. Benches have also been installed for public seating, ensuring a comfortable waiting area for commuters.

Community and business contributions

The establishment of the booth was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the municipal corporation and local businesses. Confidence Carriers & Logistics Pvt. Ltd. contributed by supplying paver blocks for flooring. Apex Finance CEO Rahul Darwante made significant donations, including 30 tree planters, two cement chairs, one wooden table, a 1,000-liter water tank, five plastic chairs, a resting bed, as well as funding for booth painting and a focus light. Additionally, K.J. Kirtikar from Maliwada enhanced the booth’s aesthetics by installing wire fencing.
