Aurangabad, May 8:

The employees of the Meteorological Observatory at the Chikalthana Airport have threatened to stop the work as they have not received water for the past eight days in their quarters at the Airport area. The employees were angry over the water issue and hence threatened to stop the work in the meteorological department. They stated that they will not give the weather report due to which the landing of the flights will not be possible.

The observatory employees live in the Airport area in the quarters. The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) provides water thrice a week in the quarters. However, they have no received water for the past eight days as the pipeline on the Jalna Road near Airport was busted. The pipeline was not repaired even after informing to the corporation on several occasions. The airport administration is also not providing water to them and hence they have to face sever inconvenience due to water scarcity. The meteorological assistant Sunil Nikalje said that they will stop the work at the observatory.

Airport director, D G Salve said that the meterological department does not come under the Airport but their quarters are in the Airport premises and the water is supplied from the corporation to them, he said.
