Aurangabad, May 20:

Parents rushed to the Eduction Department against the decision of Maharashtra Public School (MPS)-Maheshnagar area to close English medium standards from first to 10th.

It may be noted that Siyaram Education Society of MPS decided to close down the standards up to 10th. The headmistress of the school posted a message of school closure on social media group of students. The school administration has not taken the teachers and parents association into confidence before taking the decision.

In a memorandum submitted to the education officer, parents stated that the sudden closure of the decision of closure would cause the educational loss of more than 500 students.

They demanded that the education department should reject the proposal of school closure. They will resort to agitation if the education society does not withdraw the decision.

A delegation comprising Subhash Meher and Sandeep Kulkarni of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Prabhakar Salve, Dnyaneshwar Phulawar, Hari Ubale, Ganesh Chandak, Makrand Kokne, Suraj Nagre and others were present.

A total of 86 students were admitted to the school under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Of them, 81 in 2020 and five in 2021.

Education officer Surajprasad Jaiswal said that such students could not be merge in nearby schools.

“So, we will inform the education society about the rejection of their school closure decision. School cannot be closed down suddenly,” he added.
