Aurangabad, Feb 22:

Until now, the aeroplanes used to land at the Chikalthana Airport only from Chikalthana side, but now it is possible to land the flights from Cidco, Jaibhavaninagar side. A landing test of a flight coming from Cidco side was held on Monday successfully.

The flights used to go towards Chikalthana area before landing on the runway at the airport. It is because the landing instrument system is situated towards Chikalthana side while the landing was not done from the Cidco side. Now, with the help of the new GPS and Satellite system at the airport, it is now possible to land the flights coming from the Cidco, Jaibhavaninagar areas.

Now, with this new system the flights coming from Mumbai and Ahmedabad will not have to go torwards Chikalthana area before landing and can land directly from the Cidco side. It will save around 10 minutes of the flying time and even the fuel will be saved.

Assistant general manager, Air Traffic Control, Vinayak Katke said, due to the new satellite system, it will be possible to land the flights on the runway even if the instrument system on the land is not working. It is also useful during rainy season and bad weathers. It will save the fuel and reduce the carbon emission, he said.
