Police ask citizens to bring the thieves to the police station
Aurangabad, Jan 5:
Two thieves who stole petrol from two-wheelers were caught by vigilant citizens in Waluj on Monday night. After giving this information to the police station, the official asked the citizens to bring them to the police station. The citizens later released the culprits due to sluggish behaviour of the police.
According to details, vigilant residents of Avinash Colony in Waluj saw five to six teenagers carrying cans of petrol in their hands on Monday midnight. On suspicion, the residents chased and caught the two thieves, who confessed to stealing petrol from the bikes. The two were also beaten up by angry citizens. Later, the citizens contacted the Waluj police station and requested to send police personnel to arrest the thieves. However, head constable Vishnu Chate said that there was no one in the police station as the officers and staff went on patrol. The citizens again contacted the police station half an hour later. Surprisingly, Chate advised residents to bring the thieves to the police station. Enraged citizens later released the two thieves. An hour later, sub-inspector Anil Kankal, driver Kiran Khillare, constable Narayan Laghane came to the spot. Immediately, Khillare started cross-examining the citizens and argued saying why they called the police if they released the thieves. SI Kankal settled the dispute.
