A Mumbai police constable was allegedly attacked by his in-laws while visiting his daughter, triggering complaints from both sides and a police case.
Nilesh Dnyaneshwar Khandare, a Mumbai police constable residing in Chikalthana, had been living separately from his wife for six months. On March 16, at 10 am, he visited his daughter at his wife’s maternal home along with his parents. A heated argument escalated into violence. His mother alleged that Nilesh’s wife, her mother, and her brother assaulted him with an iron rod, causing injuries.
However, Nilesh’s wife filed a counter-complaint, accusing him of physical abuse. She claimed that a non-cognizable offense had already been registered against him in November. On March 16, she alleged that Nilesh, his parents, and his brother Prashant Mhaske arrived at her home, demanded money, and assaulted her and her mother. The MIDC Cidco Police have registered cases against both parties and launched an investigation.
