Police squad to meet Corona patients daily

The doctor of

the Krushna Hospital, Dr Pradeep Benjarge, at Rokadiya Hanuman Colony, was

beaten recently. A delegation of doctors led by Indian Medical Association

(IMA) Aurangabad branch president Dr Santosh Ranjalkar and secretary Dr Yashwant

Gade met the commissioner of police Dr Nikhil Gupta and demanded strict action

against the accused.

Dr Gupta assured

the delegation that a charge sheet will be submitted against the accused in 15

days. Similarly, the phone numbers of the concerned police stations will be

highlighted in the Covid Hospitals while the information about the Corona patients

being treated will be given to the concerned police stations. Similarly, a

police team will visit the Covid hospitals every day, Dr Gupta assured.

Dr Pradeep

Benjarge, Dr Anant Kulkarni and others were present. The delegation requested

the commissioner to investigate the matter under the sections of the Act

regarding the Attacks of Doctors, 2010 and Epidemic Orders, 2020 and submit the

charge sheet at the earliest.

Considering the

spread of Corona pandemic in the prisons, the court has issued guidelines that

the accused in the matter in which the imprisonment is less than seven years

should not be arrested. Hence, the accused in the attack of Dr Benjarge case

have not been arrested, informed Dr Gade.
