Pre-Independence era dream still remains unfulfilled: Dr Mungekar
Aurangabad, Feb 3:
“When will our society change framework of think that farmers should fight for only farmers’ problems, women for women’s rights and backward classes for backward classes issues,” said Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar, veteran economics and former MP.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a workshop organised by Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu).
Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole inaugurated the workshop. HRDC director Dr N N Bandela and assistant director Dr Mohammed Raffey were present.
Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar said that countrymen established a republic and democratic country on the basis of ‘equality, fraternity, justice and socialist’ 70 years ago.
“It was hoped the dream of pre-Independence era would be fulfilled. But, the dream remains unfulfilled. Since financial provision for education is being reduced, so, how to quality will be maintained and all-round development will be done. The financial provision of education which was at Rs 1.3 lakh crore, was reduced at just Rs 14,000 crore,” he said.
VC Dr Pramod Yeole stressed the need for changes in higher education (HE) of the country at a time when globalisation has created a big challenge and competition before HE.
A total of 210 principal participated in the workshop.
