Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Four 19-year-old friends, in a speeding car, caused a temporary pause in the heartbeat of the locals in Shreyanagar, today evening. Fortunately, there were no fatalities in the incident. However, the four friends, due to their own mistake, ended up injuring themselves after damaging a car. The incident occurred at 5 pm on Monday. A case has been filed against Amol Sachin Devkar (19, Chetak Ghoda, Jawahar Colony) by the Osmanpura Police in connection with this incident.
According to the police, Devkar, along with his friends, was driving a four-wheeler (MH20-DV-6578) at high speed from Amarpreet Chowk towards Kalda Corner. Continuing at the same speed, they took a turn and entered Shreyanagar. Devkar lost control of the car in front of GKC Classes and his car collided with the car of a contractor Santosh Vyas (55). This resulted in damage to Vyas's car, and Devkar's friends in the car also sustained injuries. Vyas filed a complaint at the Osmanpura Police Station. Acting upon the instructions of police inspector Atul Yerame, API Shivaji Chaure registered a case against Devkar. Further investigation is on.
Harassment in the colony, police negligence
In the city, young people, including minors and those in their twenties, are driving vehicles at high speeds. Groups of youths can be seen racing around in vehicles emitting crackling noise in areas like Connaught Place, Nirala Bazaar, Aurangpura, Shreyanagar, Osmanpura, New Osmanpura, Dashmeshnagar, and Kranti Chowk. There is no control over them, and this often leads to disputes in these areas. However, the police are completely turning their backs towards these groups.
For the past few days, a 14-15-year-old boy has been riding a moped recklessly in Seven Hills Colony and Surananagar. Besides, a sports bike rider is speeding past the roads in front of Lokmat Bhavan and on the rear side every night around 11.30 pm, crossing all speed limits. This poses a serious risk of major accidents. The police need to pay attention to these riders and issues.
