Aurangabad, Jan 8:

Shiv Sena''s district president, MLC Ambadas Danve, has underlined that renaming Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar is not an emotional issue, but a matter of pride (Asmitecha Mudda) for our party and we will continue the pursue it further.

" Thackeray-led state government had decided to regularise the properties of Gunthewari Areas built till December 2020. Hence the party will be starting a help desk in each ward so that maximum property-holders could get benefit the facility," said the MLC.

While speaking to media persons, Danve continued, " BJP was with Sena in the issue of renaming the city. BJP is also claiming that their corporators had also signed the proposal demanding extension of the limit of the constructed properties under the Gunthewari Act. BJP was in power in the state for five years, then why it did not resolve the issue?

In reply a question that Sena is raising the emotional issues like renaming of the city or Gunthewari etc. eyeing on the forthcoming municipal corporation election, Danve said, " We are taking them up as they are a matter of pride for us. The issue of PR Card will also be settled after regularisation of properties under the Gunthewari Act."

Danve explained that the celebration of the state government''s decision is being made from Pundaliknagar as it is the biggest locality to fall under the Gunthewari Act. Sena''s block president Pundalikrao Raut lost his life in a scuffle with dacoits in 1990. The party named Pundaliknagar after him. The people who were victims of riots held during the 1990s shifted here. Hence Sena gave protection to all of them. The locality was always the centre-point of agitations in the past.
