Repeal the law that enslaves farmers and laborers

Aurangabad, Oct 16:

The laborers on Friday held protests under the banner of the Marathwada Labor Union, against the new farm sector laws, demanding their repeal. The laborers demanded that the central government must roll back these laws as they are a ploy to enslave laborers and farmers.

Mahamandal general secretary Subhash Lomte, staged a protest in front of the office of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) at Jadhavwadi. On this occasion, Lomte said that the Center has approved 3 agricultural bills on the strength of numbers.

If it had benefited the farmers and the toilers, we would have accepted it, but farmers laws and labor laws have been broken. As a result, 95 per cent of the farmers and laborers will have to live a life of slavery.

He also said that a law should be enacted that agricultural commodities cannot be purchased below the guaranteed price. The state government should not implement the central government''s bill to ensure the existence of market committees.

A copy of the demands was sent by e-mail to the chief minister and to all the district collectors. Adv Subhash Gaikwad Sawangikar, Subhedar Major Sukhdev Ban also provided guidance. Chhagan Gawli, Arvind Borkar and others were present in the demonstration.

Kanhaiyalal Jaiswal and Dilip Gandhi, the presidents of the wholesalers association, announced their support for the agitation.
