Running car catches fire; 9 devotees escaped

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A CNG car carrying devotees for the darshan of a goddess suddenly caught fire on Borgaon to Padli road in Phulambri tehsil on Tuesday morning. All the devotees narrowly escaped in this incident.

All the nine devotees from Soygaon-Banoti in Bhokardan tehsil were going to Ridhora to have the darshan of the goddess in a CNG car (MH 05- DE-0432). When their car reached near Padli village on the Borgaon to Padli road, the devotees inside, including the driver, noticed smoke coming from the car.

The driver then immediately took the car aside and got all the devotees out. After they had gone some distance, the car was completely burnt to ashes. Fortunately, the devotees in the car were not injured.

The villagers reached the spot and tried to control the fire, but their efforts were insufficient. After some time, they called another car and left for their further journey. This incident was not reported to the police.
