Aurangabad, Feb 17:

"Taking care of senior citizens is the same as taking care of small children," said S V Amlekar, head of production Garware Polyester company. He was speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony to the successful students of the 9th batch of geriatric course of the Astha Foundation here today.

Speaking further, Amlekar said,"The number of senior citizens in our society is increasing day by day. Also their problems are getting serious. It is reassuring to know that caregivers are being formed through this course. The course is being run completely free of cost by Astha Foundation Aurangabad in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and Savitribai Phule Mahila Ekatma Samaj Mandal with help of Hedgewar hospital. So far 98 students have completed the course. Foundation president Dr Narendra Vaidya, Dr Pratibha Phatak, GIZ advisor Ravi Shankar Korgal, Suresh Kulkarni, Sunita Tagare, Gajanan Sardar and Amol Soni were present.
