Several crimes detected due to CCTV footages

Aurangabad, May 24:

Close circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) are playing a major role in detecting crimes. The police detected around 40 crime incidents including three murders, shooting, cheating, chain snatching, motorcycle thefts and house breking crimes through the CCTV cameras.

The work of installing 700 CCTV cameras in the ambit of the Aurangabad police commissionerate is in the last phase. Around 20 cameras are installed in each police station as per the orders of the Supreme Court.

A youth after a refusal for a marriage proposal opened fire shots on a hotel of her fiancé at Padegaon on March 30. The accused was captured in the CCTV footage on which the police identified him.

A youth Vikas Devchand Chavan, who came to the city to appear for a competitive examination was murder by an drug addict just for Rs 500. The accused was identified through the CCTV camera and was arrested in just 24 hours.

The murderers of a youth were captured in the CCTV at a Beer Shop in Priya Market. The City Police identified them and arrested from Gandhinagar.

A cheater was captured in the CCTV at Jadhavwadi while duping an old woman of her gold chain. The same person was seen giving a lift to a woman at Shahnoormia Dargah area and then snatching her gold chain. The crime branch police on the basis of the CCTV footage, his pictures were circulated on social media and later he was arrested in Hyderabad.

Similarly, a gang of minor boys stealing bags from the Mangal Karyalaya, gang stealing petrol from the vehicles and motorcycles thefts were also cracked on the basis of the footages. A man entering in to a bungalow of a retired civil surgeon at N-3, Cidco was also arrested due to the CCTV footage.
