‘Shiv Palkhi’ ceremony centre of attraction
Aurangabad, Feb 19:
Shiv Jayanti was celebrated with enthusiasm in the city amid
beating of Dhol – Tasha, playing Lezim, saffron flags and turbans. Shiv Palkhi (Palanquin)
was the centre of attraction of the celebration. Moreover, the doctors,
professors, students participated in the celebration organized at the
Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). After the Palkhi ceremony,
obeisance was paid to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by garlanding his portrait at
the library. Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar, Dr Sudhir Chaudhary, Dr Bharat Sonawane, Dr
Priti Birajdar, Dr Ramesh Wasnik, Dilip Gondhane, Vilas Jagtap, Laxmikant Shingote
and others were present. The Palkhi procession concluded at Mahatma Gandhi
Hall. The celebration was organized by Shaurya Batch of 2019. Rangolies, tableaux,
quiz, fort replicas, poster exhibition and other competition winners were given
prizes by the dignitaries. Dr Pratibha Deshmukh informed the audience about the
life events of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Prithviraj Mitkari conducted the
proceedings of the function while Akash Kanade proposed a vote of thanks.
MARD, Association of Intern Doctors
and Shivratna Batch of 2018 organised a blood donation camp and a poster
exhibition at UG Hostel area. Dr Yelikar inaugurated the camp. More than 100
doctors donated blood.
Dr Yelikar appealed the doctors to remain prepared to fight the second Corona
wave and also take precaution to keep themselves and their family members safe
from the disease.
