In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old woman along with her 3 year-old son died by suicide by jumping into the Sonegaon lake in Nanded district of Maharashtra on Wednesday. The woman died by suicde a day after her husband died due to Covid-19. 

The police primary investigation has revealed that the woman went into shock after her husband, Shankar died of covid at a government hospital in Loha tehsil. The woman identified as Padma Gandam ended her life along with the child.

Superintendent of police Pramodkumar Shewale said that the two bodies were taken out from the lake soon after villagers informed about the news. Police have registered a case of accidental death at the Loha police station and further investigation is on.

The couple was from Andhra Pradesh and had come to Nanded to work at construction sites. The couple has two daughters, aged five and seven, whom the woman left at home while they were sleeping while walking out with her son. The family stayed in a rented house in Loha town. Police have gathered details about relatives of the deceased and will handover the two girls to them.
