Take care of children even after lockdown
Aurangabad, May 15:
Around 15 percent Corona patients presently are children. In
the third possible corona wave, it is likely the children and pregnant women
will be affected. Around 90 percent children infected are asymptomatic and they
get well soon. However, the complications are seen in the post Corona period.
It is important that care of children should be taken even after the lockdown
is completed, opined the pediatricians.
The third Corona wave has already hit many countries and it
was found that the children and pregnant women were mostly affected in this
wave. The children recovered from this disease in just five days but develop
complications in the post Covid period, the experts opined. Hence, the parents
should take care that the children should not be infected. Tests of the
children should be conducted immediately if the symptoms are observed. They
should not be let out of the house even after completion of the lockdown. The
children should be compelled to follow the guidelines of washing hands, using
masks and following social distancing, the pediatricians opined.
The complication in the post Covid period in the children is
developed which is called Multi Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MISC) due to
which swelling on liver and heart nerves is developed. Many times, the RTPCR
tests of the children are negative but the antibodies are positive, opined pediatrician
Dr Girish More.
Dr
Renu Boralkar said that children affected during the second wave are
approaching the pediatricians due to the post covid complications. Hence, the
parents should take care of the children.
Dr Abhay Jain said, the children emit the elders
and hence the elders should follow the rules scrupulously. They should avoid
crowd, the play ground and playing equipment should be kept clean. The parents
should look after nutritious diets of food, complete sleep and exercises.
