Talathi lands in ACB net for accepting Rs 3K bribe at Palkhed village in Vaijapur tehsil

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested talathi of Palkhed village saja and his private assistant red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a land holder for making the entry of succession of the farmland at his office at Boradahegaon in the tehsil on Wednesday.

The tainted public servant has been identified Jagdish Purushottam Mudiraj (44, Vaijapur) and his assistant as Praveen Navnath Shinde (34, Shivrai road). According to an official statement issued by ACB, the complainant possesses farmland which is in the name of his father who is expired.

The complainant was willing to register the names of the heirs of this property in the government document for which he approached the revenue officer Jagdish Mudiraj. Mudiraj demanded Rs 5000 from the land holder to get his work done. After bargaining, talathi agreed to do the favour on Rs 3000. The farmer was unwilling to pay the bribe, so he approached the ACB office in Aurangabad and lodged a complaint in this connection recently.

The ACB personnel, all in plainclothes, first verified the facts mentioned in the complaint and then laid a trap under the guidance of the superintendent of police in charge Dr Anita Jamadar, DySP Brahmdeo Gawade at the talathi office in Bordahegaon village where talathi Mudiraj and his assistant Shinde were pounced by them the next moment after they accepted the powdered currency notes. The trap was executed by officer Mahadeo Dhakane, police naik Balasaheb Rathod, Ravindra Ambekar, Rajendra Sinkar and Changdeo Bagul. A case has been registered in this regard against the accused in the Vaijapur police station. Further investigation is on.
