Teachers working at a meagre honorarium in Anganwadis of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) are struggling for survival for the past several months.

The teachers were deprived of honorarium for the past five months. The administration says that the schools were shut down due to Novel coronavirus.

The AMC has 72 schools within the jurisdiction of the city. It runs Anganwadis in different areas. More than 150 teachers have been working in the Anganwadis for the past 20 to 25 years.

With the spread of Novel coronavirus, it was need in of employees for the survey. The teachers, along with the employees of the health department, worked by risking their life. The teachers were deprived of honorarium since April.

The teachers said that when the civic body was in need, took our services, but, compensation of additional work was nor given a regular honorarium.

Its education department tables extension proposal of Anganwadi teachers before the Standing Committee for the approval. The committee does not exist today.

The Education Department failed to take approval from the administrator Astik Kumar Pandey. The teachers said they would stage agitation front of AMC office along with family members.

Incharge education officer Ramnath Thore said that the schools were shut down, so, there is no question of giving an honorarium to teachers. “The file will be submitted to the administration after studying the condition of other Municipal Corporations of the State,”
