Aurangabad, July 4:

The government has taken an important decision to provide work up to Rs 1.5 crore to the unemployed engineers in the state under the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP).

MLC Satish Chavan had demanded the state water supply and sanitation minister Gulabrao Patil to increase the registration of educated unemployed engineers. A proposal was submitted for approval in the meeting of the board of directors of MJP held on June 16. The proposal was approved and a circular was issued in this regard on July 2. At present, well-educated unemployed civil engineers were getting jobs worth up to Rs 15 lakh. But now with the amendment of MJP contractor registration rules, works worth up to Rs 1.5 crore will be available. The question was pending at the government level for the last 20 years. The office bearers of Maharashtra engineers association have been taking follow up of the issues for some years. The state secretary general of the association, M A Hakim, state president Pradip Padole, vice president Narayan Chaudhary and Dilip Balskar have expressed satisfaction over the change.
