Aurangabad, June 26:
The stock of the Covishield vaccine has been totally exhausted with Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today. As a result, if the fresh stock is not received on Sunday, the civic administration would not be able to resume the vaccination drive for the citizens of age 18 years above from Monday!
It may be noted that the vaccination drive for youths was started in the city on June 22. It is receiving a good response and the AMC had vaccinated 74,000 youngsters in the past five days.
"We were having a stock of 54,000 vaccines one week ago. The stock got exhausted on Saturday evening. We are hopeful of getting 8,000 to 10,000 vaccines on Sunday," said the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar.
Arrangement for the second dose
Meanwhile, the AMC for the past few days is witnessing a heavy rush of citizens for the second dose of their vaccine at its few centres. The duration of 84 days after the first dose has been completed. Meanwhile, the AMC is exploring the possibility of making an independent arrangement to administer the second dose of vaccine to these citizens. The civic administration will need a large number of manpower along with adequate places to set up the centres.
