Aurangabad, Feb 8:

The citizens, especially the vehicle-owners, are facing traffic congestion on Police Officers Mess to Katkat Gate road, following a land dispute, for the past 8-10 days.

The 100-feet wide road is being constructed by spending Rs 6.50 crore from the state government fund. Under first phase, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) started construction of road from left side, so that the vehicles could pass through the right side of the road. After construction of 810 metres long road, a dispute emerged after few property-owners objected to the construction of road near Katkat Gate area.

According to town planning officials, they had done the measurement of road and clarified that the construction of road is going on as per the plan. Surprisingly, the AMC had sanctioned TDR against the land where the dispute had been erupted. Hence the road work is closed for past 8-10 days.

The construction of road from Laxman Chawadi to Jaffar Gate had also been started from the government fund, but the work is getting delayed as there are many encroachments on the road to be removed.

Meanwhile, the AMC officials had served notices to encroachers in Kile Ark area during last month, but the anti-encroachment squad had not taken any action. The construction of road from City Chowk to Kile Ark bridge had been completed.
