A simmering six-month-old dispute exploded into violent clashes and stone-pelting between two groups in Qaziwada late on Wednesday night.

The confrontation led to cross-complaints at City Chowk police station, with both sides accusing each other of assault and vandalism. According to a complaint filed by a 45-year-old woman, the conflict traces back to a past altercation involving Sikandar alias Babbi, Saurabh Ahire, and Rahul Ahire. Around 11 pm on March 26, she claimed her house was pelted with stones. When she stepped out, Yunus and Akbar allegedly attacked her with a bat, damaged her door, and threatened her son’s life while ransacking household items. Acting on her statement, police registered a case against Yunus, Akbar (both from Asefiya Colony), Sikandar, Saurabh, Rahul, and Umer.

Counter-complaint alleges assault

In response, Rahul Ahire filed a counter-complaint, alleging that he was assaulted while returning home. He claimed he was forcibly taken to Shaikh Sharekh’s residence, where Ajju Pathan, Guddu Shaikh, Wasim Sheikh, Sahil Akhil Sheikh, and Shaikh Sharekh attacked him with rods and sharp weapons. The attackers also hurled racial slurs and struck him on the head with a metal rod. Police intervened, rescued Ahire, and registered a separate case. PSI Nivrutti Gayke and Sambhaji Naik are leading the investigation.
