Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The World Bank Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the process of road measurement and encroachment removal along both sides of the Pune - Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar highway, up to 50 feet on each side, from Friday (March 7).
The measurement work on the highway in Waluj began, with the removal of encroachments such as shop sheds, handcarts, platforms, signboards, and banners within 50 feet on both sides, under police supervision. Many business owners voluntarily removed their encroachments.
Due to frequent traffic congestion and minor accidents on this highway, the PWD’s World Bank, and officials from K.T. Sangam Infrastructure Limited had already issued notices to encroachers a month ago. Accordingly, the drive to remove encroachment began on Friday.
During the operation, Sub-Divisional Officer A R Pabale, junior engineer Harish Garje, assistant engineers Akshay Tandale and Abhijeet Chaudhari, KT Sangam officials Raju Pachpute, Ganesh Raut, Shaikh Ashfaq, PSIs Ramesh Rathod, Sandeep Wagh, PSI (Traffic) Shankar Shirsat, Shaikh Salim Haider, and Kishor Salve were present.
