The Pundliknagar police have booked an auto-rickshaw driver for sexually exploiting a woman for three years on the false promise of marrying her look after her children. The accused has been identified as Akram Babu Syed (38, Kiradpura).

The accused works as building labour and is also an auto-rickshaw driver. The victim is the resident of Garkheda area and she lives away from her husband for the past five years. In 2017, the accused had come to her plot for construction work where they got acquainted, and they were attracted towards each other. On false promise of marrying and looking after her children, the accused established physical relations with her. Later, whenever the victim asked her about marriage, he used to neglect her. For the past few days, he had left her and was not even received her phone calls. She then met him and asked him about the marriage, but he refused and abused her in her caste name. She lodged a complaint at the Pundliknagar police station and a case under Atrocity Act and rape has been registered in this regard.

On January 16, the accused abused the victim in the name of caste and also beat her. He also urinated in her kitchen. On receiving the complaint, ACP Kishor Navale, API Ghansham Sonawane and Lady PSI Chavan then visited the spot.
