Aurangabad, Feb 10:

“The self-esteem of women has enhanced when they were given different rights, including voting, with the implementation of the country's Constitution. But, they are not allowed to participate in the decision-making process even today” said Dr Anand Deshmukh, a legal expert.

He was speaking in a ten-day lecture series being hosted by Tarabai Shinde Women’s Study Centre of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) on Wednesday.

This was the second day of the series.

Centre director Dr Smita Awachar and coordinator Ashwini More were present.

He said there is still gender discrimination in education, employment, wealth and health. Dr Deshmukh said that equality of man-woman was given in the Constitution.

Manjushri Landge proposed a vote of thanks. Urdu Department head Dr Kirti Javle, Dr Vilas Epper and others participated online.
