Aurangabad, April 16:

The state government has imposed a strict lockdown under break the chain campaign. As a result, various works of water supply scheme of Aurangabad city have come to a halt. The survey work and the overhead water tanks have also come to a standstill.

The state government has approved a new water supply scheme worth Rs 1,680 crore to quench the thirst of citizens. Work on the scheme began in February. The survey work for laying the main waterline from Jayakwadi to Nakshatrawadi was underway. At the same time, a survey of the work of internal waterlines in the city was also started by a private company appointed by the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP). Construction of new water tanks at nine places in the city has been undertaken. The state government has imposed a curfew under break the chain. The curfew will remain in force till April 30. This has affected the water supply scheme of Aurangabad city. Ajay Singh, superintendent engineer, MJP, said that the curfew has affected the work. The survey for laying water line in the city has been stopped. The staff assigned for the survey have gone to their respective villages. These works cannot be resumed due to curfew. Singh expressed confidence that the number of patients would be reduced and the curfew would be lifted.
