Aurangabad, Feb 8: The World Cancer Day was celebrated at Seth Nandlal Dhoot Hospital (SNDH) here on February 4 in the presence of patients and relatives.

Under an initiative, "#Emotional Support", relatives of the patients were encouraged to write a message by creating an emotional wall to encourage cancer patients. On the day of the event, many of the hospital’s doctors, patients and their relatives wrote inspirational messages for patients.

Medical director Dr Vijay Borgaonkar spoke about how to prevent cancer. Chief administrator Dr Himanshu Gupta introduced the initiative‘Sehat Ka Kulla’ (healthy oral cleaning habits) through a video promotion.

Medical oncologist Dr Prakash Devde instructed the patients to be emotionally supported.Early detection, early cure is important without keeping them in the dark. Radiation oncologist Dr Amol Ubale gave information about radiation therapy and conveyed the message that patients should face the cancer without fear or concealment. Surgical oncologist Dr Viraj Borgaonkar expressed the hope that the number of cancer patients would be reduced through public awareness.

Selected patients and their relatives thanked the doctors for the treatment they received.

Hospital trustee Sushil Mantri, Dr Amol Kulkarni, Dr Shekhar Shiradhonkar, Dr Varun Gawli, Dr Renu Boralkar and Sanjay Surve were present. Atish Dayma conducted the proceedings. Dr Rajmilind Pudale proposed a vote of thanks.
