Aurangabad, Oct 20:

The Zilla Parishad chief executive officer (CEO) Mangesh Gondawale today inspected the proposed 7 km long road constructed between Sharnapur and Dharampur. The CEO ordered to issue show-cause notice to the sectional engineer after he spotted deep potholes in the newly built tar road. The CEO also spotted several loopholes like the absence of road safety measures and construction of narrow road along with bridge. Meanwhile, the CEO instructed the contractor to repair the damages under defect liability period (DLP) immediately.

Under the scheme 5054, the ZP administration had approved the 7 km long road of valuing Rs 80 lakh. The contractor has constructed the road of length 2.5 km. After reviewing the ZP members raised objections claiming that the road is narrow and the construction is of sub-standard quality. Hence taking cognizance of the complaints, Gondawale today inspected the road. During the visit, the CEO found there is a reduction in the size of the road. It is difficult for two vehicles to pass at a time. There was an absence of road safety and security measures. Deep potholes were formed on the tar road. The additional CEO Santosh Kawade and acting executive engineer Z A Kazi also accompanied the CEO. " As per the orders of the CEO, the contractor has been intimated to get the road repaired within the defect liability period. Besides, the show cause notice has also been issued to the sectional engineer U P Pawar," said Kazi.
