Aurangabad, April 1:

Sarika Jain, a teacher from Zilla Parishad (ZP) High School from Ladsawangi was selected for the national award of National Council of Education, Research and Training (NCERT).

The NCERT conducted a national level online seminar, ‘Innovative Practices and Experiments in Education in the first week of March for the national award.

Teachers from different parts of the country participated in this seminar.

Sarika Jain has implemented Menstrual Hygiene Facilities like a vending machine for easy availability of sanitary napkins in school for adolescent girls.

She was selected for the national level award for innovative practices.

She said that there are many challenges faced by adolescents school girls in rural areas about menstruation.

“Due to unavailability of menstrual management facilities, secondary school girls' dropout rate during menstruation increases. They lose their confidence due to tremendous myths and taboos on this subject,” she added.
