PAN Aadhaar Linking: If you get this message from the bank, don't ignore it

Have you linked your PAN card with Aadhar card? If not, immediately link the PAN card to the Aadhaar card. Because now the deadline given for linking PAN card with Aadhar card is not likely to be extended. If you have still not linked pan-Aadhaar may result in penal action.

Banks are now sending messages and mails to link PAN card with Aadhar card. If you receive such a message or mail, do not ignore it. You might be subjected to a fine. 

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the last date for linking PAN-Aadhaar to June 30, 2021. But according to some senior officials in the tanks department, this is the last extension. Now those who do not link PAN and Aadhaar may face punitive action. Officials say taxpayers have been repeatedly given extensions to link Aadhaar-PAN. However, many taxpayers have not yet linked the PAN-Aadhaar card. 

If not linked by 30 June 2021 then you might be subjected to a fine of Rs 1,000. The Government of India has recently amended the Income Tax Act, 1961, through a Finance Bill to provide for penalties  The government has added a new section 234H to the Income Tax Act to take punitive action if PAN-Aadhaar is not linked.

You can find out if your PAN and Aadhaar card are linked from the Income Tax Department website. To use SMS service, Aadhaar Card can be linked to a PAN card by simply sending a message to 567678 or 56161.
