Starbucks Layoffs 2025: 1,100 Employees to Be Affected in Workforce Restructuring
Coffee and Starbucks are now synonymous, with the brand being a favorite among coffee lovers worldwide. However, Starbucks, which has a joint venture with the Tata Group, plans to lay off 1,100 employees as part of a major restructuring. This decision, announced by CEO Brian Nichol, comes on the heels of a decline in business and sales since he took over in September 2024.
A letter to affected employees, which will be communicated on Tuesday, indicates they will continue to receive salary and benefits until May 2, 2025. Additionally, Starbucks will permanently eliminate vacant positions as part of the staff reduction. The company currently employs 16,000 people across more than 36,000 stores in 80 countries.

In his letter, Nichol emphasized the goals of increasing efficiency, accountability, and simplification. Notably, employees involved in roasting and warehousing will not be affected by the cuts.
