Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran struck a career-best 177 as Afghanistan posted a commanding 325 for 7 against England in their Champions Trophy match on Wednesday.

Zadran anchored the innings with a 146-ball knock, rescuing Afghanistan after they were reduced to 37 for 3 in the ninth over. He shared a crucial 103-run stand with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, who scored 40 off 67 balls. Zadran later built a 72-run partnership with Azmatullah Omarzai, who made 41 off 31 balls, and a 111-run stand with Mohammad Nabi, who contributed 40 off 24 balls.

England pacer Jofra Archer led the attack with figures of 3 for 64 in 10 overs. Spinner Liam Livingstone took 2 for 28.

Afghanistan remained unchanged from their previous game, while England brought in Jamie Overton for the injured Brydon Carse.
