Veteran Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite his experience and previous solid performances in the tournament, Rahane failed to attract any bids. Rahane had a remarkable 2023 season with Chennai Super Kings where he scored 326 runs with a strike rate of 172.49. However, his form dipped in the 2024 season, where he managed just 242 runs at a strike rate of 123.47. Rahane had set his base price at ₹1.5 crore but did not find any buyers.

Rahane was among several high-profile players who went unsold on the second day of the auction. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, who was released by Gujarat Titans earlier this month, also failed to find a buyer. Williamson entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore, but no franchise showed interest.

Prithvi Shaw, released by Delhi Capitals, also went unsold. Shaw’s base price was ₹75 lakh, but none of the IPL teams made a move for the young batter.

All-rounder Shardul Thakur, a two-time IPL winner with Chennai Super Kings, also went unsold. Thakur had set his base price at ₹2 crore, but no team bid for him either.
