Allah Ghazanfar has been bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 4.80 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Kolkata Knight Riders made the first bid before Royal Challengers Bangalore joined the bidding. After a brief contest, Royal Challengers Bengaluru pulled out and Mumbai Indians made the winning bid.

Ghazanfar registered for the auction with a base price of INR 75 lakh. The Afghanistan spinner was part of Kolkata Knight Riders' squad in the previous IPL season but did not make his debut. He had gone unsold in both the 2023 and 2024 IPL auctions before joining Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement for Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Ghazanfar's recent form has drawn attention from multiple IPL teams. He made his international debut earlier this year in ODIs and impressed with a six-wicket haul against Bangladesh. The spinner was also key to Afghanistan’s success in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, where he took six wickets in four matches. Ghazanfar has played 16 T20s and taken 29 wickets at an economy rate of under 6.
