West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite expressed frustration after being controversially given out during the Max 60 Caribbean 2024 Super Three clash between the New York Strikers and the Grand Cayman Jaguars on August 24.

Brathwaite, who was batting on seven runs off four balls, attempted a pull shot off a bouncer from left-arm pacer Josh Little. The ball missed his bat, struck his shoulder, and was caught by the wicketkeeper. Despite no apparent contact with the bat, the on-field umpire ruled Brathwaite out.

The decision left Brathwaite visibly upset. He stood at the crease in disbelief before reluctantly heading back to the pavilion. As he reached the boundary, Brathwaite removed his helmet and smashed it out of the playing area. Not stopping there, he then threw his bat in frustration as he entered the dugout. The support staff at the pavilion had to step aside as Brathwaite struck the helmet with his bat.

Grand Cayman Jaguars vs New York Striker Highlights

The New York Strikers managed to secure an eight-run victory, posting 104 in their allotted ten overs and restricting the Jaguars to 96. However, the Strikers were outclassed in the final by the Caribbean Tigers, losing by 56 runs after being bowled out for 69 in pursuit of a 126-run target.

Strikers captain Thisara Perera top-scored with 25 off 11 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes, but the Tigers' bowlers proved too strong. Retired Sri Lankan cricketer Suranga Lakmal led the bowling attack with figures of 3-9 in 1.1 overs, sealing the win for the Tigers.
