DC vs LSG Toss Update: Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first against Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants in their Indian Premier League match on Monday at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.

Explaining his decision, Patel said the team wanted to avoid any risks with the possibility of dew later in the evening. "It's the dew factor, we don't want to take any risk, that's why we are bowling first. I have played with Pant before, he knows me and I know him. We know our tricks. I have played a lot for the Capitals, we have a well balanced side. There's dew sometimes, not always. I have been with DC since three years, I have been with the leadership group. I need to work accordingly. Need to think like a leader. Faf du Plessis, Stubbs, Starc and Fraser-McGurk are our four overseas.," he said.

Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant, who previously played for Delhi Capitals, admitted he also wanted to bowl first but remained confident in his side’s batting strength. "I wanted to bowl first but It's a good wicket so we can bat well and put up a good score. I have played for DC all my life, so a lot of emotions there. Preparations have been well, everyone is in the right shape and in the right frame of mind. Markram, Marsh, Pooran and Miller are our four overseas players," Pant said.

Delhi finished sixth in the previous IPL season with seven wins from 14 games. The team, led by Rishabh Pant, fell short of a playoff spot in 2024. With Pant moving to LSG this year, Delhi will look to make a fresh start under a new leader.

Lucknow ended IPL 2024 one position below Delhi, also with seven wins in 14 matches. The team secured Pant during the IPL 2025 mega auction for Rs 27 crore. The Indian wicketkeeper will now face his former franchise in a highly anticipated clash. A win against Delhi will boost Lucknow’s chances of reaching the knockouts.
