Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final against Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday.
Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that her team would have opted to bowl first if they had won the toss. She also mentioned that while statistics from the last four matches suggest that teams batting first have won, Mumbai is focused on staying in the moment.
"This is a different match and different atmosphere today," Kaur said. "We want to continue our momentum from the Eliminator."
The final is a repeat of the 2023 WPL final and sees two of the most consistent teams of the tournament clash. Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, aim to secure a second consecutive title. On the other hand, Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals are hoping to claim their maiden WPL trophy.
Lanning, the Delhi Capitals captain, noted that the team was confident going into the match after a successful league stage where they topped the points table. "We’re excited for this game tonight," she said. "We’ve had time to refresh and the conditions are expected to remain the same throughout the game."
Delhi made one change to their playing XI, with Shree Charani replacing Titas Sadhu. Mumbai retained their unchanged lineup.
