Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and opted to bowl first against Delhi Capitals in the 4th match of the Women's Premier League 2025 at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara. Both teams made changes with Delhi Capitals bringing back Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen while Royal Challengers Bengaluru included Ekta Bisht in their lineup.

RCB Skipper Smriti Mandhana said that dew has been a significant factor in recent games and mentioned that the wicket plays better after the first few overs. "Dew has been a big factor in last couple of games. We've seen the wicket play better after first 6-7 overs. Few things we could work on in terms of bowling and fielding. We had two good practice sessions. WPL isn't like a long tournament that you have time to come back. Have to start well," Mandhana said.

Delhi Capitals' captain Meg Lanning, on the other hand, expressed a preference for bowling as well but noted that teams batting first have done well in the past. "Would've liked to have a bowl like most teams. But we've seen teams batting first do well. Wicket stays pretty similar throughout. Was nice to be able to hold our nerve and get over the line. Learnt a lot from that game," Lanning said.
