Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell made a costly mistake during the IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday. He walked off without reviewing an lbw decision that replays later showed would have been overturned. The incident happened in the 11th over at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Facing his first ball from left-arm spinner Sai Kishore, Maxwell attempted a reverse sweep but missed. The ball struck him on the pads, and the on-field umpire raised his finger. Maxwell briefly consulted captain Shreyas Iyer at the non-striker’s end but chose not to review. Replays showed the ball would have gone over the stumps.

Maxwell’s dismissal came immediately after Azmatullah Omarzai fell on the previous delivery. PBKS were left struggling at 105 for four after 10.4 overs. Sai Kishore continued his impressive spell and also removed Marcus Stoinis. He finished with figures of three for 30 in four overs.
Maxwell Sets Unwanted IPL Record
Maxwell’s golden duck added another unwanted record to his name. The Australian now holds the record for the most ducks in IPL history with 19.
Despite Maxwell’s early departure, Punjab Kings posted a massive total of 243 for five. Priyansh Arya set the tone with a blistering 47 off 23 balls after being dropped by Arshad Khan on six. Marcus Stoinis chipped in with 20 runs, while Shashank Singh smashed an unbeaten 44 off 16 balls.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a sensational unbeaten 97 off 42 balls. His knock helped PBKS register the highest IPL total at the venue.
