Gujarat Titans have suffered a major setback ahead of their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, as pacer Kagiso Rabada has returned home to South Africa due to personal reasons. The franchise confirmed his absence in an official statement, saying, “Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter.” Rabada did not play in Gujarat Titans' match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 2. At the toss, captain Shubman Gill said that the fast bowler would be unavailable for personal reasons.

There is no official confirmation on Rabada’s return, but he is likely to miss the upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His absence leaves a significant gap in the bowling attack. Arshad Khan replaced him in the playing XI, and if Rabada remains unavailable for an extended period, it could impact the 2022 IPL champions.

Rabada played two matches this season and took two wickets. He had an average of 41.50 and a strike rate of 24. His economy rate was 10.38. In the game against Punjab Kings, he conceded 41 runs and picked up one wicket. Against Mumbai Indians, he finished with figures of 1/42. Although he has struggled this season, Rabada has been a key performer in the IPL over the years.
