Jasprit Bumrah is set to rejoin Mumbai Indians (MI) for their upcoming IPL 2025 campaign after being cleared by the Centre of Excellence (COE), according to a report by Sports Tak. The star pacer is expected to be part of the MI setup within the next two days. His much-awaited comeback match is scheduled for April 13 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Bumrah has been working on his fitness and taking necessary precautions before making his comeback.

Bumrah, MI's highest-paid retention before the mega auction in November 2024, was retained for Rs 18 crore. He has already missed MI's four games in IPL 2025. During his absence, MI’s bowling attack has been led by Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar, with Hardik Pandya providing an additional seam-bowling option.

The 31-year-old has been sidelined since the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to discomfort in his lower back. Before his injury, Bumrah was in sensational form, playing a key role in India's victory at the ICC T20 World Cup and finishing as the highest wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 32 wickets. His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious ICC Cricketer of the Year and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year awards.

MI has played four matches in IPL 2025, winning only one. The five-time champions have lost three of their four matches so far. Their most recent defeat came against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on Friday. As of now, MI are placed seventh in the points table with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.108. They will host Royal Challengers Bangalore before traveling to Delhi to face Delhi Capitals.
