The search engine giant Google is rolling out a special Doodle for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, which is scheduled to begin today (March 22). The IPL 18 season will see 10 teams competing over the next two months.
The league was founded in 2007 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BBCI) after India’s victory in the T20 World Cup. The IPL has since become the most popular cricket tournament and organisation in the world. It boasts 10 competitive franchise teams from all over India, each with its own stellar roster of bowlers and batsmen.

The first fixture will take place at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata, where the grand final match will also be held. Defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will kick off its IPL 2025 campaign on Saturday against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). This will be the second time the two teams face off in an IPL opening match.
This Google Doodle is specially designed for cricket lovers. The cricket ball has also been included in Google's logo. The unique Doodle by Google has caught the attention of netizens and cricket fans. Google Doodles are often dedicated to an important person, event, or special occasion, and this time, for the IPL 2025 celebrations, they were introduced with a cricket theme.
