A verbal duel also broke out between Bumrah and Nair during the match. Jasprit Bumrah bowled the final over of the powerplay in the Delhi Capitals’ innings. In this over, Karun Nair hit two sixes and a four off his bowling. During a run between the wickets, Nair and Bumrah collided, heating up the atmosphere. Nair celebrated his half-century by scoring two runs off the last ball of the sixth over, bumping into Bumrah at the non-striker's end while taking the second run. Bumrah had already conceded 18 runs in the over and seemed visibly frustrated, appearing to take his anger out on Nair.

At that moment, Bumrah reportedly said, "Where you are running is my place." Karun Nair was also seen replying to him. Hardik Pandya stepped in to settle the dispute between the two. Even during the drinks break, Bumrah was seen walking towards Nair and saying something. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was spotted enjoying the on-field spat during the break, which was caught on camera and widely circulated. Nair, on the other hand, appeared slightly surprised after clashing directly with Bumrah.
