Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set for a significant boost as tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav is expected to rejoin the team's camp on Tuesday, April 15, after a lengthy injury layoff. The young fast bowler, who had been sidelined since October 2024 due to a back injury, has been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE). Yadav, who impressed in his early outings for India during the T20I series against Bangladesh last year, was one of LSG's five retained players ahead of the 2025 IPL season. However, he missed the first half of the tournament while recovering from his injury.

On April 4, LSG head coach Justin Langer had confirmed that Yadav was "90-95 per cent fit" and that the franchise was eagerly awaiting his return. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Yadav is likely to be available for selection for LSG’s next match against the Rajasthan Royals, scheduled for Saturday, April 19 in Jaipur.

LSG have had a tough start to the season in terms of Indian fast bowling resources, with Mohsin Khan ruled out early and the likes of Avesh Khan and Akash Deep becoming available only later in the campaign. Yadav’s return is expected to bring much-needed pace and variety to their bowling attack. With the business end of the league approaching, LSG will hope that Yadav can hit the ground running and replicate the promise he showed last year.
